In times of old along the northern slopes of the mountain, where the Fortress Stone is situated, was Kolhary village and below was the river of the same name. This river is still there but it grew shallow. One poor family lived in Kolhary village. Old men of the family were at war with their daughter-in-law. The young woman did not care a bit for her mother-and father-in-laws, she fulfilled their requests and demands reluctantly, not concealing her scorn for them.

Once mother-in-law sent her to fetch water. The daughter-in-law was too slow in returning. The mother-in-law was tired of waiting and she exclaimed in a frenzy: "I wish you turned to stone on that mountain!" At the moment the daughter-in-law was ascending the mountain with water, and there she turned into Turatash.
